Reader Response Draft 2

The following text is refined by Copilot: The DJI N3 Flight Controller Unit (FCU) is a versatile system designed for both industrial and hobbyist Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) applications (UAVforDrone, 2024) . It features a dual Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for built-in redundancy, ensuring safe and stable flight even if one IMU fails. The N3 includes a GPS compass antenna to maintain a stable flight path, requiring a lock on at least 16 satellites for optimal performance, with the option to add an additional GPS compass module for fail-safe redundancy (N 3 - DJI , n.d.) .  A Power Management Unit (PMU) regulates power supply for the UAS, accommodating various flight modes and supporting additional devices like gimbals and cameras (Hoenicke et al., 2021) , while correcting for operator-induced thrust and adverse weather conditions. Known for its reliability, upgradability, and advanced vibration dampening, the N3 improves sensor accuracy and reduces control oscillations. Its softw

Initial Research Pathway -DJI Flight Control Unit of customized drones

Emmanuel and I paired up and narrowed down to researching the DJI Flight Control Unit of Customized Drones. Originally we wanted to try the Detect and Avoid (DAA) system, however, we aborted that idea due to the lack of the ecosystem available in the market and decided to narrow it down to something more attainable on the market. Based on our evaluations, we have determined that the N3 applies only to quadcopter, hexacopter and octocopter designs of drones and it is not a complete plug-and-play system. I ventured into vibration dampening which reduces pilot-induced oscillations and understood from Emmanuel the different in-flight mechanics of a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft.  However, as we developed our reader response,I found out the DJI N3 was not as appealing and pronounced as what DJI marketized - Leveraged on Gemini to find out comparable flight controllers to DJI N3. "DJI n3 vs other flight controllers" - Leveraged on Copilot to find the comparison between Pixha

"p1xar"s Formal Self Introductory Letter

Dear Professor Brad, I hope this email finds you well. My name is Gerald, and I am a first-year student in Mechanical Engineering. I am thrilled to be part of your S20 tutorial group for the Critical Thinking and Communication Module. Allow me to provide some context: I previously studied Aviation Management at Temasek Polytechnic. While my background lacks engineering experience, my decision to join this course stems from a desire to merge hardware technical knowledge with an aviation perspective. My ultimate goal is to become an aviator who possesses both analytical and engineering skills. During my military service, I developed a valuable skill—the ability to extract clarity from complex information. We emphasized understanding the mission, stakeholders’ capabilities, and limitations. This mindset has shaped me into someone who always considers the broader context (akin to understanding the Field of View) before communicating. However, I recognize that my military experience may som

“ Developing   excellent communication skills   is absolutely   essential to effective  leadership . The leader must be able to  share knowledge and ideas  transmit  a sense of urgency and enthusiasm  to others. If a leader can’t get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn’t even matter.” The first sentence resonates highly with me, as effective leadership require excellent communication skills to drive the idea across. As future engineers to be, it is important to drive our point of view across to the table effectively and organize out the chaos from what a person says into order when listening in. Even if we have all of the data, ideas, and/or solutions, if we do not communicate them in a clear, engaging, and compelling manner, we are not true leaders who can excel in engineering. The second sentence, having the ability to share knowledge and ideas in clear, engaging and captivating manner is important to drive the message and lead a
